…
The end is near… only 20 more photo’s to go and I will finish two years, 730 days, of daily Lego pictures.
I have mixed feelings about it to be honest. I am going to miss the adrenaline rush of making the daily photo, it is kind of an addiction, BUT I am looking forward to a little more freedom. I learned a lot about (Lego-)photography in the past two years and I’m still learning on a daily basis.
Next year I will keep making pictures of course. Without the daily commitment I can go a little deeper. Spend a little more time perfecting the idea, a little more time on the build (I would’ve done the build in today’s photo very differently if I had the time), a lot more time on the setup and lighting and experiment with more difficult techniques. Stuff that was not possible because of the stress of the daily commitment. One other thing I’ll miss though is the fact that I HAVE to make the photo… A lot of my better photo’s (imo) are split second decisions because I needed an idea THAT moment! it really got the creative juices going, so I’ll have to find another way to stay creative.
So… looking forward to some freedom and looking forward to delve deeper in every aspect of my Lego-photography. 🙂
And something that I will continue at the current pace…. HERE’s the latest episode of the Foolish Lego webcomic, episode 139!
you said the same thing one year ago. You missed one day if memory serves me right. Keep them coming 🙂
I don’t think he did. One time he had only a hour till midnight to get the photo, and that photo is the one with the psychologist holding his head. Only risky moment I can remember.
Mike’s right. I had a one day’s rest between the two 365-projects.
Haha, you are absolutely right! I did say the same thing last year. But things are changing. My time is getting more limited by the day it seems 🙁
This year was much more difficult, and now the 365-concept feels somehow restrictive because I can’t find the time to perfect the photo’s. So that’s what I’ll be doing next year. Also, for work, I’m going to be on a trip for two weeks and I need all my concentration to learn some new techniques. This is the reason I’m sure I won’t be doing the 365 next year. BUT never say never, a third 365 may be following in the year after. I will be making photo’s and lots of them the following year but not on a daily basis. Oh, and the comic will go on too! (if you like that part of the site 🙂 )
🙂
Congratulations!
So now they won’t be daily? Weekly? Or ‘at least one per week’?
I still have a few to go before I reach 730. But thank you. Next year photo’s will come unscheduled, I’ll have to figure out how it’ll go. The comic will keep coming twice a week though.
I’ll be totally looking forward to another way of working! I myself know I won’t be able to work on a daily basis, I’m definitely curious about how you’ll manage your time and how perfect minded you’ll be!
I think you are as curious as I am. I hope I’ll find a good new balance
