A man walks into the store

A man walks into a store… Who could it be? 😉
You’ll probably already know, but should you want to check…. here’s the answer!
Flash
I never used a flash in any of my work on this site. However, since the end of my sabbatical, I am looking to improve and learn, and using flash-lighting was one of my wishes. And voila; this is my first attempt! I’m fairly happy with it to be honest 😃. My first steps not the world of the strobist!

Nothing will ever come close to your natural lighting scenes IMHO.
Knowing what you can do with natural lights, I can’t keep thinking that something is weird, articificial in that shot. Not saying it’s not a great shot, it’s just that I don’t feel the same as many of your previous shots, mainly from the first 2 “365 projects”.
Your opinion is not humble LOL.
I know you are a big fan of the natural lighting shots I did a lot of in my early years.
The problem was that I made up the stories in these images on the fly and when in my backyard, I could just get something if I needed it for the photo. However, my backyard got less and less interesting for photography and then I had to get out to create these photos AND I had to take along everything I thought I needed… and I always missed something. I became stressed about getting out, because I was always thinking “Ow that would have been a nice shot with this or that minifig” and those kind of thoughts. So slowly I backed away from these shots. Looking back at them, I think there is room for improvement.
Besides that I was looking for a more controlled environment (at first for the comic), and a place were I could leave my stuff and take a break. I could not do that outside, besides the lighting changed constantly. That drove me inside too.
Lastly, now that I’m finally beginning to really understand how to control light in my photos, I might get outside again at some point. I’ll be sure to let you know when that’ll happen again 😄
