Wordpress comment problem

It seems something has changed in Wordpress. For some reason people can’t comment if there’s a number in their name! This used to be no problem. I’ve been looking into this but to no avail. I  have no idea how to reverse this ‘feature’ so people with a number incorporated in their name can comment again. I checked all the plugins, but they don’t seem to be the problem. I searched the Internet, but can’t find anything on this. The change-logs of Wordpress-updates don’t mention anything either.

Do any of you know how to fix this?
